Elsa Lu – Instructor, Ballet and Chinese Dance

Former Professional Dancer, Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe — RAD Registered Teacher | Beijing Dance Academy (BDA) Registered Teacher — RAD Practical Mentor

Elsa Lu graduated from the prestigious Shanghai Dance School, where she studied under renowned ballet master Ms. Zhu Meili. In the same year, she joined the Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe as a professional dancer, performing internationally in Shanghai, France, Japan, and Malaysia, and receiving multiple dance awards.

Since 2004, she has been dedicated to teaching the RAD ballet syllabus, gaining extensive experience through the transition from the previous syllabus to the 2013 revised edition. She previously taught at the Wang Qifeng Ballet School in Shanghai, the first RAD examination school in the city. After relocating to Toronto in 2014, she has taught at several dance schools and served as a lead instructor, with her students achieving numerous awards and maintaining a 100% examination pass rate with excellent results.

As a demonstration student for the Practical Textbook of Classical Chinese Dance published by Shanghai Education Publishing House, Elsa specializes in ballet, Chinese dance, body conditioning and rhythmic expression, folk dance, as well as PCT and PBT training methods. She is a certified teacher of the Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Graded Examination Syllabus. She is known for her warm, patient, and engaging teaching style, working with students ranging from age three to adults.

Since 2022, Elsa has been selected as an RAD Practical Mentor, supporting trainee teachers and students in obtaining their teaching qualifications. In 2024, she attended the first International Teacher Camp hosted by RAD headquarters in London, UK. She has also choreographed multiple original works for annual performances and school anniversary galas.
